Our paper on statin-induced diabetes has been published in the high impact international journal “Diabetes Care”

In the last few years it has been realized that statins, which are drugs used in the treatment of high cholesterol, can cause diabetes. Our neurologist, Dr Deftereos, in cooperation with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has discovered that hypothyroidism can lead to the development of diabetes when statin treatment is started, and proposes certain lab tests that can help identify the existence of such an increased risk in an individual. This work has been published in “Diabetes Care”, a high impact international journal.
